What marine filters look like when they reach us

Marine diesels run long, steady loads, which is the kindest cycle a filter can have, so a blocked marine filter is usually a high-hours ash case rather than a soot problem. The constraint is scheduling: the filter can only come off in port or in dry dock, and it has to be back before the vessel sails.

Marine filters are quoted after assessment, as one of the four categories the rate card does not price. Send the filter dimensions and hours ahead of the port call and the slot is held so the turnaround fits the window.

Questions

Marine operators ask

Usually, if the filter is sent the day it comes off and the slot is booked ahead. Most filters are cleaned the same day they arrive; courier time is the variable.

Quoted after assessment, from an indicative ₹24,000 per filter before GST. The bench measurement confirms the figure before any work.

No. The filter is removed by the vessel's engineers and sent to the Nashik workshop. We clean and measure the filter; nothing we do happens on board.
