Why Igatpuri vehicles block filters
Igatpuri sits at the top of the Kasara ghat, and that gives its vehicles the opposite problem to a city fleet. A loaded truck climbing the ghat runs at sustained full load with exhaust temperatures at the top of their range, then descends on the engine brake with almost no fuelling at all. The filter is driven through a hard heat cycle twice on every run. Substrates that spend their lives in that pattern tend to arrive here with thermal cracking or with ash packed hard into the channels by repeated high-temperature loading, which is a different failure from the soft soot loading a city vehicle shows, and it needs to be identified before anyone tries to burn it off.

Getting here from Igatpuri
One day, planned properly.
An hour down the highway, so most operators here send the filter in the morning and collect it the same evening once it has been removed locally. Fleets running the ghat regularly tend to move to a scheduled interval instead, which is cheaper than waiting for a filter to fail on a climb.

No filter is quoted on sight. It is tested, cleaned if the test says cleaning will help, and tested again, and you get both numbers. When the measurement says the substrate is beyond saving, you are told that instead of being sold a clean that will not hold.
