What luxury cars filters look like when they reach us
European diesels carry the largest and most complex after-treatment units on the road, often with the particulate filter and the catalyst in one close-coupled assembly, and the manufacturer's replacement price reflects it. That is also why the first quote an owner hears is so often for a replacement. On the bench the picture is usually simpler: a substrate that is intact and full, which cleans.
Most of these cars live in city traffic, where a regeneration started on one stretch of road is interrupted at the next standstill. The filter loads slowly for years and the owner meets it as a sudden warning or a derate. Ash is almost always present by then, and ash is what the bench removes.

Yes, provided the substrate is intact. The unit is measured on arrival; if the ceramic is cracked or melted we say so before any work, and it is not charged for a clean that would not help.
No. We clean filters, not cars. Your workshop removes the unit and sends it; it comes back with the readings for them to refit and reset.
